Efficient for security operations, but buggy apps, limited integrations, and no instant communication tools make TrackTik less ideal for seamless team management.
Verdict: 6.7/10
I couldn’t personally explore TrackTik’s interface, but from what I’ve gathered, it’s a decent tool for managing security guard schedules, routines, and security operations. The location-based features are great, and the ability to monitor activity in real time is a plus. But if payroll integrations and in-depth reporting are essential for your business, you might find it lacking.
That said, TrackTik’s customer service is excellent. Reps are quick to respond, helpful, and friendly.
The drawbacks of TrackTik lie in its negative user reviews, lack of instant communication tools, and inadequate integration options for payroll.
Key Features:
- Schedule creation. TrackTik offers quick schedule creation through its desktop and mobile apps. Teams can view schedules in a calendar view, and you can filter for skills, qualifications, and overtime to ensure the right people are assigned to the right shifts.
- Task management: You can assign security personnel tasks and observe their progress.
- Time tracking. Staff can clock in and out using the mobile app, and you can set geofences to prevent clock-ins from unauthorized locations.
- Data lab. You can use this reporting tool to check information like checkpoint completion, clock time, employee skills, shift information, and more—and share this data with clients.
- Panic button. This button enables security staff to quickly call for help in emergencies.
Pros ✅ • Panic button • Unlimited users • Clean layout | Cons ❌ • Buggy mobile app • Clunky time tracking • Lack of instant communication tools |
TrackTik Pricing
TrackTik doesn’t offer transparent pricing, which I find frustrating, especially when there are companies like GuardsPro and Connecteam that are forthcoming about their prices.
I contacted TrackTik’s customer service agents about pricing. They informed me that TrackTik offers 2 pricing tiers—the simple TrackTik Guarding Suite and the more comprehensive GuardTek Guarding Suite.
The TrackTik Guarding Suite offers simple payroll and invoicing, client management tools, and overtime prevention. You can also activate and deactivate specific features based on business needs and budget. For example, features like asset management, guard scheduling, and additional on-site licenses can be added or removed as needed. The more features you enable, the higher the monthly price will be.
GuardTek Guarding Suite offers features like GPS tracking, geofencing, checkpoint tours, a message board, and more. You can also add features or “modules” as necessary.
The TrackTik Guarding Suite system is charged per license, and you need 1 license per location. Licenses are $78 each per month, and you must sign up for a minimum of 12 months. So, for a business running 3 locations, that’s $2,808/year. Plus, there’s a 1-time setup and training fee of $1,404, and an additional cost per added module. Support is included as part of the ongoing subscription fee.
The GuardTek Guarding Suite is slightly more expensive at $427/month. However, this covers 5 licenses, working out at about $85.30/location. The onboarding and training fee is also lower for this: $842 for a half day’s training.
TrackTik doesn’t offer a free trial, and you must contact a representative for a free demo or price quote. They’ll ask for more information about the type of business you run and prepare a comprehensive pricing plan specific to your business.
Ultimately, TrackTik seems a bit pricey. While the per-location pricing might advantage businesses with just one or a few locations, costs could quickly escalate for businesses with security operations at multiple sites.
Plus, other solutions that offer per-user pricing have similar features at more affordable prices. For businesses with smaller numbers of security personnel—even those operating at single locations—these alternative solutions might be more cost-effective.

TrackTik Usability and Interface
I couldn’t get a free trial or self-guided demo of TrackTik, so this review is based on information I’ve pieced together from the video demo, website, user reviews, and information provided to me by the helpful customer service agents.
From what I can see, the layout is clear and easy to navigate but basic. I wouldn’t call it cluttered or outdated, but it’s not very appealing. It’s functional and simple—and links are where you’d expect them to be.
Some reports on Capterra, however, say that the system is clunky and convoluted.
Also, TrackTik doesn’t make any claims about the accessibility of its app on the website for users with disabilities, such as visual impairments.
Verdict: 7/10
Mobile app
TrackTik’s mobile apps are available on both Apple and Android devices. There are 2 apps: TrackTik Shift for scheduling and TrackTik Guard Tour for management of guard tours (workers can also punch into scheduled shifts through the Guard Tour app, but other scheduling tasks—like grabbing open shifts—must be done via TrackTik Shift). I wish there was just one app, as I don’t think guards will appreciate having to download multiple apps.
The Guard Tour app layout looks clear and intuitive and seems to have several of the functionalities of the desktop app. For example, employees can clock in and out using the app, schedule breaks, check into locations, check their messages, and more. And managers can assign tasks, which guards can check through the app. Once marked as completed, these tasks go into a logbook, where managers and guards can check to see what happened over the course of previous shifts.
Guards and managers can also view any “tours” guards are scheduled to go on and view any check-in points or reports they must make along the way.
The app sends push notifications through the guard’s shift to help them keep on top of what they’re meant to be doing and when.
A company rep told me the app works offline: Guards can start patrols while offline, and the app will track their progress as they complete their shift. They must reconnect to the internet before they’re able to finalize the patrol report. This is great for security operations in low-connectivity areas.
That said, one review on G2 says the app “crashes for some agents”—and the mobile apps have low scores on the Apple and Google play stores.
For instance, TrackTik Shift has 3 out of 5 stars on the Apple Store, while TrackTik Guard Tour has just 2.6 stars. Recent reviews mention various issues, including issues with removed shifts, deleted information, and glitchy location features.
Scores on the Google Play Store are slightly higher, but reviews still discuss issues—including photos not saving and location tracking not working correctly.

TrackTik Core Functionalities
Scheduling
The scheduling tool lets managers schedule guards and other security personnel across multiple locations. You can create schedules on the web or mobile apps, and guards can check schedules on their mobile phones as soon as they’re released.
I like that there’s a calendar view—and that you can color code and add notes to each shift type. These make it easy to track who’s doing what and when. The color coding is a particularly nice touch for quickly identifying different shift types at a glance, and the ability to add notes means you can provide additional context for team members or supervisors.
As far as I can see, there’s no list view for the scheduling tool, which can make it difficult for those who prefer a less visual approach to managing schedules. These views also tend to be better for those who use screen readers.
You can also filter using the color-coding system, which is really handy if you’re looking for open shifts or shifts in particular areas.
TrackTik offers really advanced filtering features. When you’re scheduling shifts, you can filter by employee qualification, license, training completion, location, and overtime availability. If scheduling a shift will send someone into overtime, you can filter so they don’t appear as an available worker. You can also use this to ensure guards aren’t accidentally scheduled in multiple locations or in locations they aren’t qualified to tour.
What’s more, you can easily create schedule templates to map employee shifts weeks or months in advance. You can still move shifts within this schedule and create ad-hoc shifts as needed. This eliminates the need to start from scratch every week, saving tons of time.
But, there’s no 1-click auto-scheduling, which is offered by other tools like Celayix and Connecteam.
Verdict: 8/10
Task manager
TrackTik’s task management features are great for assigning tasks and following guards’ progress in real-time and ensuring all responsibilities are met. You can set task lists and check points, assign them to a shift, and track completion. Plus, this feature is GPS enabled, so you can follow teams in real-time.
Guards can follow their task lists as they patrol sites, moving through different checkpoints. Once all tasks are completed, they can cross off the checkpoint and move on to the next one. Once all checkpoints are signed off, they can either download the report and send it to their manager or simply send them a message.
These features are great, but I’d love to see a feature where managers are automatically notified of task list completion.
Verdict: 7/10
Time tracking
TrackTik offers time tracking through the mobile app. Guards must clock in and out to start and end their shifts and go on breaks.
Plus, TrackTik offers geofencing tools—this means you can set the system so that employees clock in only when they’re in the correct places (inside the geofences). These features are great for ensuring accountability and accuracy, especially for businesses that rely on employees being in specific locations.
However, the system is manual, so there’s room for human error. Guards forgetting to clock in or out could lead to mistakes when tracking hours. Plus, as mentioned above, some reviews state that there are issues with location tracking, which could spell trouble for the geofencing function.
An automatic clock-in/out option or reminders would make the process smoother and more foolproof. Connecteam, for instance, has the option to automatically clock in or out employees when they enter or leave a geofence.
It’s not clear from the website or video demo whether you can manually adjust hours worked through the system through the website if your team members mis-clock.
I reached out to customer service about this, and a rep told me you can manually adjust worked hours if the guard forgets to clock in or out. However, if the hours aren’t pre-planned or the guard forgets to clock in and out, you can’t start the shift on their behalf. You must have them clock in and out after this happens and then amend the shift—which seems like a hassle, especially if this is a frequent occurrence.
You can preload your overtime rules into TrackTik’s setting to prevent guards from clocking unauthorized overtime. I really appreciate this setting, as it can prevent unexpected payroll surprises.
You can also load custom overtime rates into the system, use a simple 1.5x multiplier, and even load a premium pay rate into the system to incentivize guards to take certain routes or shifts. This is great for filling those hard-to-fill shifts.
You can also create custom rules for break times, allowing guards to clock in for rest or meal breaks—or preventing them from taking breaks as needed. Your team can also snooze breaks if they aren’t ready to take them or waive their breaks if they’d rather not take them. These tools are excellent for the security industry, where shifts can be unpredictable.
The only drawback? There isn’t a way to track how often guards are skipping their breaks. This kind of data is key to ensuring guards aren’t overworking themselves or missing breaks too frequently and complying with break laws.
Verdict: 9/10
Communication
There doesn’t appear to be an in-app chat feature in TrackTik. However, there’s a Message Board that lets you communicate with staff.
TrackTik’s team assured me the message board works the same as any other messaging tool on a smartphone. You can instigate messages with a group or single users—and reply to user messages. However, you must notify guards from the web portal when you want to send any messages. The process looks like this: You send a message request, they must accept it, and then you send your message.
I think this could really slow down the messaging process. The lack of instant messaging—which is offered by competitors like GuardsPro and Connecteam—is disappointing. Needing to notify employees before you contact them may work for general updates or non-urgent info, but it falls short when it comes to fast, dynamic team coordination.
That said, TrackTik offers a panic button—a tool that’ll be really handy in emergency situations. This button lets guards quickly alert their supervisors or other designated contacts if they encounter problems, adding an extra layer of safety and support.
Verdict: 6/10
Payroll integration
TrackTik’s website claims TrackTik is fully integrated with many popular payroll systems—and that it offers real-time pay summaries through the dashboard, simple tax compliance, and the ability to update all employee payroll information through the app.
For example, TrackTik integrates with:
- Xero
- ADP
- QuickBooks Online
- Criterion HCM
- Rain InstantPay
However, Capterra and G2 reviewers state they’re disappointed with the payroll integration options. One user on G2 states, “Integration with payroll services is limited,” while another review Capterra says, “Tracktik does not communicate with paycor- payroll software. With these two systems you have to do the payroll manually.” Paycor powers TrackTik’s payroll processing tools, making it understandably frustrating when the 2 systems don’t talk to each other.
Businesses tied into contracts or reliant on specific payroll software will want to double-check with TrackTik’s team to ensure compatibility before committing.
Verdict: 5/10
TrackTik Security Features
TrackTik is fully GDPR compliant and works only with GDPR-compliant third parties.
There’s no mention of any biometric security features, such as fingerprint or facial recognition, which some competitors offer for added protection. This might not be a dealbreaker for every business, but for those handling sensitive data or operating in high-security environments, it could be a gap.
That said, managers can easily add and delete users, manage user permissions, and check security reports from the app.
Verdict: 7/10
TrackTik Reporting & Analytics
TrackTik gives you access to its Data Lab, where you can create customized dashboards to help manage dispatch, payroll costs, incident reporting, and more. There appears to be a wide range of reporting tools on the desktop app. This is great for businesses that want to track key metrics and make data-driven decisions.
What really impresses me? You can run reports from your mobile app. This feature is limited in many other employee management platforms, and it’s a key tool for managers who must access data on the go.
However, user reports again discuss difficulty using the system. A review on G2 states you can run just one report at a time, which is frustrating when dealing with a large team, trying to manage end-of-month reporting, or handling multiple data points simultaneously. Another review on Capterra says there’s “no ability to save at least 1-2 drafts of reports while working on another report” and that TrackTik doesn’t have similar reporting capabilities as other employee scheduling apps.
Because I couldn’t explore the app myself, I couldn’t verify these reviews. However, multiple user reviews note these issues, so it’s fair to say that TrackTik’s reporting tools might not be as seamless as advertised—especially for businesses requiring heavy reporting capabilities.
Verdict: 5/10
TrackTik Customer Support
TrackTik’s customer support team is very responsive via email. Representatives tend to respond between UK business hours, 9:00 am-6:00 pm, Monday-Friday GMT, which might disadvantage businesses based elsewhere. I received responses within an hour.
There’s also a help center where you can find answers to frequently asked questions and more general learning around the security industry. The guides section appears to be updated a few times a year, while the FAQ section is updated more regularly.
There’s unfortunately no support via phone or live chat, which is frustrating if you’re looking for in-the-moment support.
Verdict: 8/10

TrackTik App Review
In general, TrackTik is a useful software for those looking for an employee management tool geared towards the security industry. Features like the panic button and geofencing set it apart from more generic tools.
The schedule tools are also really neat. I especially like the advanced filter features and the handy color-coding system that makes it easy to differentiate between different roles and locations at a glance.
However, the app’s limitations—including the reportedly buggy mobile app and lack of simple communication tools—might make it frustrating to use at times.
Connecteam: The Better TrackTik Alternative
With its super accurate geofence, simple in-app chat, intuitive user interface, and excellent mobile app, Connecteam is a great security guard management software.
First, it offers a drag-and-drop employee scheduler that’s so easy to use. And I love the convenient 1-click auto-scheduling—where the system creates the schedule for you based on your workers qualifications, availability, and more.
Connecteam also offers an employee time clock and a real-time GPS tracker. You can ensure your guards are in the right places by tracing their steps at clock-ins and along their tours, and even set geofences that prevent them from tracking time outside designated areas.
I appreciate how easy it is to get a hold of your security team members with the team instant messaging. You can quickly set up 1-on-1 or team chats to share updates, check on wellbeing, and send digital forms—including checklists (and you can create these using Connecteam).
The employee task tracking features let you assign tasks and track their progress in real-time from your dashboard. This feature integrates with various other features—for instance, you can add tasks to schedules, add checklists to tasks, and even create task-specific chat channels.
I also love how Connecteam integrates with various popular payroll tools, like Gusto and QuickBooks.
Finally, Connecteam has a free plan—and paid plans are significantly less expensive than TrackTik. Coming in at a flat rate of $29/month for up to 30 users, Connecteam is ideal for small or budget-conscious businesses.
