Karen:
Karen Hennessy-Coles, I work with Robert Walters, so I recruit HR professionals.

Shaked:
What is the biggest HR challenge today?

Karen:
Obviously the hybrid working, kind of, whether the people are in the office, whether they're working from home, engaging people.

Shaked:
The fact is that 80% of the workforce actually don't sit in an office.
How can technology take place in order to engage employees, communicate with them better, when they don't have a computer or office?

Karen:
We all have phones, there is kind of apps and being able to kind of… people have that information in their pocket. You know, we've just started doing things where our leaders are going to be doing videos each week just to kind of, you know, kick off the beginning of the week and kind of say what we're going to be doing that week and what our successes have been so that people feel engaged and motivated. So, yeah, it's definitely apps, I guess for those people.

Shaked:
What piece of advice or tip you could give to new HR managers or something you wish that you knew earlier?

Karen:
Being an expert in the industry that you're in and actually really understanding kind of a sector or industry so that you can really help the business, because HR isn't just kind of an add on function
that's looking after people. It's got to be really helping the business and kind of driving the business.
