Comprehensive hospitality scheduling and recruitment hub, but overpriced for small teams

Verdict: 7.5/10

“When Harri met [insert name]” is how the sales team books a demo with you at Harri. The team may like puns, but this hospitality software is no joke. I found the scheduling and time tracking features fairly advanced and was especially impressed with the custom analytics and forecasting. You also get built-in hiring tools and top-notch customer support.

Sadly, the mobile app can get glitchy (and there are 5 apps). Also, while there’s a payroll module, it’s for UK teams only, and 3rd-party payroll integrations are very limited. It’s also much costlier than alternative hospitality schedulers for teams of under 100, though it’s reasonably priced for larger businesses.

Key Features:

  • Scheduling: Build and recur shifts, auto-assign staff, and forecast sales and labor costs.
  • Time tracking: Let workers punch in and out. Add start- or end-of-shift surveys, too.
  • Time off management: Approve leave requests, track availability, and customize time off policies.
  • Communication: Send group and direct messages in-app, plus publish news feed announcements.
  • Payroll: Run payroll directly in Harri (UK only).
  • Applicant tracking: Publish job ads on 3rd-party platforms, track applications, and communicate with candidates.

Pros

  • Forecast-based scheduling
  • Very user-friendly
  • 10/10 customer service
  • Hiring module

Cons

  • Not for the budget-conscious
  • Limited payroll integrations
  • Limited chat feature//

Harri Pricing

You must set up a couple of calls with Harri reps to get a custom quote. After that, you can attend a live online demo with the solutions team. I appreciated how easily I moved through this process, especially compared with other custom-price platforms I’ve tested. I got a quote within 3 days and completed a 1.5-hour demo within the week.

Harri pricing starts at $875/month (billed monthly) and includes all features—workforce management, engagement, HR, and recruitment.

The sales rep said that a per-user monthly fee kicks in for over 125 employees (on top of the $875/month base fee).

You can’t get the workforce management module only. The plan includes applicant sourcing and tracking, whether you use these or not

You can, however, purchase add-ons including payroll and Harri IQ (a business intelligence module).

There’s no free plan or free trial. The sales rep said Harri can arrange discounts for annual and quarterly billing but couldn’t give me exact numbers.

Here’s a breakdown of Harri’s 2 plans, with and without payroll.

Employee Experience (HR, workforce management, employee engagement, and recruitment)Employee Experience + Payroll
Monthly fee (monthly billing)$875$993
Per-employee fee$0 for the first 125 employees$4
Implementation Fee$2,800$3,250

Add-ons come with custom costs, too. For 100 employees across 10 locations, Harri IQ (the business intelligence module) costs around $375/month (billed monthly) with an implementation fee of $625. The quote varies according to headcount and number of locations.

Now, Harri is a wide-spanning and effective HR solution, so I think the cost is worth it for large multi-location hospitality businesses that need a hiring and workforce management combo.

If your main priority, however, is producing effective schedules and timesheets (or you run a smaller business), the pricing is prohibitive

There are hospitality-friendly platforms that offer similar features for a fraction of Harri’s price. Take a look:

At higher headcounts, though, Harri’s price (which includes recruitment tools) is quite competitive.

Still, smaller hospitality teams can snag free-forever plans with solutions like Sling and Connecteam—there’s no free plan with Harri.

Harri Usability and Interface

I saw Harri in action during a 1.5-hour demo and found it intuitive and neatly organized. As an example, the schedule view is comprehensive but not cluttered, and you can expand shift duration just by dragging the cell corners. Button and cell colors are also intuitive—red for declining, green for approving, and amber for issues.

You can also color-code different shift types (like evening versus morning). However, I thought the data loading was quite laggy, for example, across reporting and timesheets. I also saw several user reviews mention occasional glitches.

A desktop screenshot of Harri showing a list of schedule templates.
The web interface is organized and intuitive, but takes a while to load.

Also, expect a learning curve. I’ve seen several verified users complain about long platform setup and frequent software updates that require staff re-training. Plus, you’ll need Harri’s technical support for some configurations, such as payroll integrations and employee profile custom fields.

Verdict: 7/10

Mobile app

A collage of mobile features (attendance tracking, scheduling, and leave requests) from my Harri demo.
A collage of mobile features (attendance tracking, scheduling, and leave requests) from my Harri demo.

While I couldn’t test the Harri mobile app myself, I saw both the mobile and tablet versions during my live demo.

There are 5 separate Harri apps:

  1. Harri Live: Manage schedules and comms (managers only).
  2. TeamLive: View and swap shifts (employees).
  3. TeamHub: Let employees clock in onsite (employees).
  4. Harri Hire: Manage job applications (managers only).
  5. Harri Jobseeker: Apply for hospitality jobs (candidates).

I get why job candidates (and the onsite tablet time tracking) need a standalone app, but I feel like Harri Live, TeamLive, and Harri Hire could’ve been one mobile app to save managers the headache of managing different interfaces.

Besides, managers and employees aren’t particularly happy about Harri Live’s and TeamLive’s usability, respectively. Many Google Play and App Store user reviews complain of bugs and glitches, like having to re-log in with every use and not getting notifications consistently. The rep I spoke with mentioned that Harri will release an improved mobile interface by fall 2025.

As for features, managers have similar functionality on desktop and mobile. This includes building and editing schedules, tracking workers’ live clock-in statuses, approving time off requests, and sending and receiving messages. Employees, meanwhile, can view and swap shifts, request leave, track time, and complete checklists on the TeamLive and TeamHub apps.

You can’t, however, perform custom reporting (except for cost and labor forecasts) or change advanced settings, such as user access or compliance rules.

Thankfully, Harri mobile apps can store data offline (such as clock-ins) and upload it when back online.

Harri Core Functionalities

Harri scheduling

Harri’s scheduling feature is advanced. You can build schedules from scratch, copy previous weeks, edit saved templates, and auto-fill shifts based on rules.

A video of a solutions rep demonstrating Harri's schedule auto-fill feature.
A video of a solutions rep demonstrating Harri’s schedule auto-fill feature.

The main schedule view shows you team members’ daily shifts along with a total hours and labor cost summary. I like that you can filter your view based on staff positions (like bartender or barista), shift types (morning versus evening), and more. Plus, the rep showed me you can drag and drop unassigned shifts to individuals’ schedules.

To create a shift from scratch, select a date, start and end times, a position, and an employee (or leave the shift open). Optionally, add shift notes, a revenue center (like “bar” or “cafe”), and tags. Tags help you track and analyze schedule data—for instance, they could be “members area,” “cleaning,” or “temp workers.”

Notably, you can’t add files or tasks to shifts (something Connecteam lets you do).

But you can configure Harri to alert you to compliance mishaps. For instance, track hospitality workers’ student visas, and the schedule interface alerts you or blocks you from assigning non-compliant hours. You also see who’s scheduled to work over their max weekly hours.

The schedule auto-assign feature seemed to work very smoothly. You customize your rules by ticking boxes such as “Equal hours for all employees” and “Schedule most skilled employees at peak hours,” and Harri fills your shifts in 1 click.

The schedule forecasts tool predicts your labor needs (and costs) based on past point-of-sales (POS) data. You can add this data manually or by integrating your POS provider. You can also adjust your forecasts based on your team’s insights (for instance, an upcoming roadblock in your area). I like that real-time forecasts show up alongside your schedule, and you get forecast vs. actual metrics.

Besides all that, employees can:

  • Easily set their availability on desktop and mobile.
  • Request open shifts that match their qualifications, skills, and locations.
  • Swap shifts with coworkers who match the same requirements—and same number of hours.

Verdict: 9/10

Harri forms

You can create shift forms, including checklists and surveys. The rep demoed an opening checklist with yes/no questions, free text responses, star ratings, and file uploads, which seemed easy to build and fill in.

Screenshot of a Harri checklist example from my demo.

For instance, you can assign feedback forms to employees on either clock-in or clock-out. You can add “read-only” content too, including text, images, and videos, to make it more interactive and informative.

However, you can’t add file attachments (such as PDFs) or request answer types such as date, location, custom ratings (e.g., 1-100), or signatures.

There are, however, separate custom incident forms, which employees with permission submit manually. With these forms, you can add info such as incident date and priority—and analyze these entries in the reporting section.

I wish adding forms to shifts were easier. I’d prefer a dropdown in shift edit mode that lets me assign specific forms to specific shifts, but with Harri, you must match forms with specific shifts in the “Engagement” module, and they’ll apply to all shift templates, employees, or positions that match your conditions.

Verdict: 7/10

Harri time off management

Employees can request leave easily on the Harri app. They choose an absence reason (which you can customize), like vacation or parental leave, enter the start and end date, and add optional notes. I like that they can also add attachments, like sick notes. Unfortunately, they can’t add times to request partial days off.

Screenshot of the Harri mobile app where an employee chooses an absence reason.

Leave policies are fully customizable. While I didn’t get a demo of this feature, I found out that you can customize accruals and paid and unpaid leave entitlements for different leave types—and set all-company days off (on top of national holidays).

You can auto-assign policies to employee groups (for instance, based on locations or positions) and individual workers. You can also set up alerts for low labor supply—for instance, if too many workers are booked for leave on a certain date.

Verdict: 8/10

Harri time tracking

The rep demonstrated time tracking on a tablet view. (Workers can also punch in and out on their smartphones.)

The demo included a clock-in questionnaire with 2 staff sentiment questions for workers to answer before clocking in. I wouldn’t include such check-ins too often since it delays punching in. Without this, Harri clock-ins take 1 tap.

Screenshots of the Harri tablet app showing a clock-in button next to a clock-in announcement.
You can require team members to complete a questionnaire before clocking in—but this may slow down the clock-in process.

I like that you can set up rules and alerts so:

  • Workers can’t clock in without manager approval if they’re “X” minutes late.
  • You get notifications for late clock-ins, early clock-outs, and missed shifts.
  • Workers can clock in only if they’re in the geofenced area you specify (for example, a 30-foot radius around your restaurant).
  • Users get reminders to take breaks.

It auto-tracks overtime hours, too, which you can customize and set alerts for.

Harri automatically produces employee timesheets. In the demo, the manager timesheet view listed individuals’ rates, scheduled and clocked-in times, and hours and pay totals. You can bulk approve timesheets with 1 click—nice!

Strangely, workers can’t edit their time cards. Only managers can. The rep said that employees can ask managers to edit their start and end times, then approve or reject managers’ time edits. I think this is unnecessarily admin-y since forgetting to clock in or out is quite common.

On an onsite tablet, workers can clock in using facial recognition or with individual PINs. The rep said the biometric login tech can tell if someone is scanning a picture of an employee (instead of a real-life human) and rejects the clock-in—which I think sounds great for preventing time theft.

Verdict: 8/10

Harri communication

Harri’s communication module includes real-time team messaging and announcements. You can send direct messages to colleagues and create private groups (say, location-based or for night shifts).

You don’t seem to be able to create free-to-join public channels. However, you can post team-wide announcements with visual media. You can also send survey questions—like shift updates or milestone check-ins—directly to users through chat. They can respond using free text, multiple choice, or rating options.

Screenshots of the Harri mobile app showing a message list and a chat with the Harri survey bot.
Screenshots of the Harri mobile app showing a message list and a chat with the Harri survey bot.

Overall, the chat user experience feels basic but effective. You can send messages and emojis, but you can’t drop files or voice notes, and you can’t format your messages. One verified user mentioned that “CommsHub is a bit clumsy” and their team doesn’t use it.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Integrations

If you’d rather not use Harri’s baked-in payroll module (built for the UK only), integrating your 3rd-party payroll provider could be cumbersome. There are direct integrations with 5 providers (including Fourth and Workday) but not with popular ones like Gusto, Deel, and QuickBooks.

A list of 5 payroll platforms that Harri directly integrates with.

Harri’s technical team could arrange integrations with additional platforms, but a simpler option is exporting a payroll sheet, which you then upload to your payroll suite.

Separately, you also get POS software integrations (including with Tevalis and the Omnivore API that links to POS platforms) and learning management system integrations with UpSkill People and Arrow Up. I’d have liked to see integrations with restaurant and hotel booking software.

Given the hefty price tag, I expected a wider suite of payroll and workforce management integrations.

Verdict: 6/10

Harri Security Features

Harri holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications—industry standards. It also encrypts data at rest and in transit, but doesn’t specify the type of encryption technology.

A slide summarizing Harri's security certifications and policies.
A rep shared links to various security policies with me.

You can set up 2-factor authentication (2FA), as well as biometric login (with facial recognition) on its onsite clock-in tablet app.

You can also customize user access and permissions across actions like viewing and building location-based schedules and seeing employee pay rates.

Harri complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the EU and the Data Protection Act in the UK. However, it isn’t Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant in the US.

Verdict: 8/10

Harri Reporting & Analytics

Harri’s reporting function impressed me! There are 2 separate analytics offerings:

  • The standard reporting feature (included in the Employee Experience plan).
  • Harri IQ, an add-on business intelligence module (for an extra cost).

The standard (i.e., free of charge) reporting feature is pretty advanced. During my demo, I saw around 100 ready-made reports across hiring, scheduling, time tracking, absences, and engagement. There’s a combination of raw data reports in table form (such as the time and labor cost master report) and multi-metric visual dashboards (including those on employee sentiment and clock-in issues).

A video of a solutions rep showing me Harri's risk analysis report, which includes missed and late clock-ins.
A video of a solutions rep showing me Harri’s risk analysis report, which includes missed and late clock-ins.

I especially liked that, compared with many workforce management competitors, Harri’s reporting is visual-first—great for quickly grasping stats. You can export granular CSV sheets, too. Plus, you can customize lots of filters and chart types, and schedule custom reports to be delivered to your email.

My rep also briefly demoed Harri IQ. You can customize unlimited analytics dashboards and make strategic staffing decisions based on data like employee performance and diversity. It’s a few levels of detail beyond the “freebie” reporting, but small businesses likely won’t reap as many benefits from IQ as those hiring thousands.

The main downside? The reporting learning curve is steep—for less tech-savvy admins especially.

Verdict: 9/10

Harri Customer Support

Harri doesn’t publicly list its customer support options, but a rep confirmed that you get live chat, phone, and ticketing support. You also have direct access to a customer success manager for no extra cost. Response times vary between 1 business day and 30 minutes, depending on issue severity. Harri aims to resolve issues within 5 business days.

There’s also a customer-only help center

I had an excellent pre-onboarding experience with 3 different reps, who were highly trained, personable, and answered all my questions knowledgeably. A lot of verified paying customers mention speedy and effective customer support, too (like this one!)

That said, I’d have loved a live chat on the website for sales questions.

Harri App Review

Harri is a solid employee management and recruitment solution for hospitality teams. It has an eye-watering price tag, but if you use all its modules effectively—and have hundreds or thousands of staff—it’s probably worth it. Auto-scheduling, demand forecasting, and next-level reporting are my top highlights.

I hope the company sorts out the software’s various glitches soon, since they’re mentioned in several user reviews. There should also be more payroll integrations and a smoother chat experience given the price point.

Connecteam: The Better Harri Alternative

Connecteam is an all-in-one hospitality management app that’s more affordably priced than Harri and offers similar workforce management features.

Compared with Harri’s multiple apps, Connecteam’s 1 app is glitch-free and includes all employee and manager features.

I could create and recur shifts in its employee scheduler in just a few clicks. I especially like that you can add tasks, checklists, digital forms, and attachments, which isn’t possible on Harri.

An illustration showing Connecteam’s scheduling interface

While it lacks forecast modeling, you can also calculate labor vs. sales percentages using the Lightspeed POS integration to plan efficient work schedules. Or, use the auto-scheduler to create schedules with 1 click.

Connecteam’s 1-tap employee time clock offers comprehensive overtime tracking and has a real-time GPS tracker alongside geofencing functionality. The former lets you see employees’ live locations while they’re clocked in (as opposed to at clock-in and clock-out only).

An illustration showing Connecteam’s time clock interface

Also, its online team chat has a modern interface complete with public and private chat groups, DMs to anyone in the company, plus a personalized news feed for announcements and celebrations. I appreciate that you can add voice notes, files, images, and emoji reactions for clear and quick team communication.

While it lacks applicant tracking, Connecteam packs in these additional tools for free for up to 10 users, and starts at just $29/month for 30 users:

  • Document management.
  • Knowledge base.
  • Customizable courses, quizzes, and surveys.
  • Easy payroll integrations with major providers, including QuickBooks and Gusto.
